Our doors with premium edging can easily withstand the rigours of everyday life. This new, innovative Premium edge is based on zero-joint technology – a development from GARANT. What makes this new edge technology revolutionary is its seamless appearance. Not only does it look high-quality, but it also ensures excellent impact resistance.
What makes the premium edge special
This innovative chamfered edge design protects against accidental everyday damage whilst also offering exceptional durability. This is achieved through production using functional layer technology, which ensures homogenous sealing between the door leaf edge, the frame wood and the chamfered surface. The tight edge seal makes the joint resistant to dirt; it is significantly more resistant to mechanical damage and more resilient to water and aggressive cleaning agents. The zero-joint design allows for simple and quick cleaning using standard household cleaning products. No residue is left behind in open joints.
Other edging technologies use hot-melt adhesive, which leaves a visible joint between the door and the chamfered edge. If the door is knocked, this can result in unsightly damage or even cracks. With the GARANT Premium chamfered edge, a two-millimetre-thick plastic chamfered edge is inserted into the door rebate. This ensures the chamfered edge blends seamlessly into the door without any visible transitions. This fine functional layer forms an almost invisible junction with the door, making it extremely impact-resistant. It also offers high UV resistance and colourfast non fading properties, rated at levels 6–8 on the Woll scale and in accordance with EN ISO 4892-1 (assessment according to the Blaumassstab EN ISO 105-B02).
Attached everywhere
Doors fitted with GARANT Premium edging prove their worth in many settings: they can withstand a hectic day at nursery and the lively hustle and bustle of everyday school life. Even if building blocks get thrown about or children jostle each other, the robust edge protection can take it. The GARANT Premium chamfered edge also stands out here thanks to its small, all-round radius at the edge of the door leaf. This means a reduced risk of injury. It’s no coincidence that this is also known as the ‘nursery edge’.
In offices or blocks of flats, this chamfered edge technology offers lasting protection for all doors used by large numbers of people. And in the hospitality sector, the chamfered edge easily withstands suitcases and trolleys that are accidentally knocked against it.
Suitable for medical and chemical environments
Thanks to the homogenous sealing of the door leaf edge, doors with GARANT Premium edges are also suitable for use in hospitals, care homes, doctors’ surgeries or laboratories. The chamfered edge is chemical-resistant and offers enhanced moisture resistance. Doors fitted with GARANT Premium chamfers are therefore more resistant to water and water vapour in the finished edge area than conventional doors and offer good resistance to different corrosive liquids.
